Suzanne LaCombe

 

Dr. Suzanne LaCombe is a Registered Psychologist. She received her doctoral training in counselling psychology from Boston University in 1993. Her clinical residency included one year at the Student Counselling Centre at the University of British Columbia. Her pre-doctoral practicums were at the Center for Family Development in Boston, Massachusetts and the Career Counselling Centre at the University of Toronto. Her Masters in Counselling Psychology was completed at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto in 1986.

Dr. LaCombe has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of clinical problems including bulimia and compulsive overeating, post-trauma, anxiety-related disorders, bereavement including pet loss, depressions, relationship concerns, problems related to low self-esteem, family of origin issues as well as addictions including online sexual addiction.

Dr. LaCombe uses a number of treatment techniques. Her orientation is psychodynamic and she utilizes, emotion-focused and self regulation treatment techniques and cognitive behavioural, depending on the needs of the client.

In 2001, she became Certified in Self-Regulation Therapy by the Canadian Foundation for Trauma Research and Education (CFTRE).

Areas of employment include a two-year term on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Education where she completed a special issue on Cooperative Learning. Her teaching experiences include a year at George Brown College in Toronto and teaching research methods at Boston University.
