Coherence Corner...

The Winter has 'arrived' in our soma's now as we're officially accommodated to the season's rhythms. Typically, nature threw us a curveball and it's in the 40's here in the BDL (Beautiful Downtown Larchmont) at the moment. But now that it's PHYLO week, we're actually closing in on the somatic halfway point already. By the time we make it to next SAT, JAN 23rd, we'll be through 6 of the 12 weeks of the seasonal cycle. Start getting more aware of the inner distance you have from your own vulnerability. If you still few too raw this week, pay more attention to your kidney function. Work on your physical balance and mental equilibrium. The Winter challenges you to get rooted deeply in your life. What's at the core of your existence? What matters most? Act on that now.

We're still on the winterBRAIN's Joint Ecologies trail until JAN 23rd. If you're waking up sore and stiff it's time to lubricate baby! Get the Boswellin cream out of mothballs. Do your Kidney Tuck from the Somatic Basics. WTF is that you ask? Visit http://www.somaspace.org/basics.html and find out. For the rest of the Winter season visit http://www.somaspace.org/winterwisdom.html  or click on the Coherence Calendar above.

Too frickin' fried for something new? Get yourself in tune by doing your SIMPLES with me now. I sed now!!!

CoCo Kinesis
Over the years, I've probably riffed over a 1000 'expercises' over the 19 years I've been doing this stuff. But by and large the one I think has the most shelf life is this one. I think it started when my daughter Sarah was in pre-K and I went in to meet the class and talk some soma. I told the kids all they needed to know about life is in their hands. When you're a kid it's about being told to CALM DOWN and the adults will signal this to you by showing you their hands PALMS DOWN. And when you're an adult, little kids will show you it's time to CHEER UP by asking you to hold them with their arms open and their PALMS UP. So the way to weave that into yourself is to literally sit still and place your hands on your desk, kitchen table or even your lap PALMS UP and breathe in and the flip them over PALMS DOWN on the breathe out. Do 10 or 15 cycles of that and you'll notice
a tingling buzz in your body that wasn't there before. That spiraling energy is there for you to tap into as your emotions ride the wave of life.

Do'media! PHYLOpalooza...

A little less than a week ago, the Conan O'Brien-Jay Leno NBC fiasco was the #1 story in pop culture. It was made into a sideshow less than 24 hours later once the news of the Haiti earthquake become known. That's a perfect example of the drama that distorts our lives because most sapes out there are wired into the funhouse mirror of the PHYLO domain. So we'll breakdown how this happens by doing a Behavioral Profile on S-List member and all around PHYLO, Jay "Big Jaw" Leno. As ONTO Howard Stern points out to EXO Conan, watch your back!

Get a closer look what a PHYLO is by visiting http://www.somaspace.org/phylo101.html and see if you know someone living that vibe. For more detail on this WED's edition of "Soma Time" at 9pm ET click the Yapster Alerts...

If you have no clue WTF I'm talking about, take a sec and get yourself introduced to the 4 domains here...

A little BTR swap this week. On TUES at 1pm ET I'll be the guest on the "To Be" show with Barbara Hofmeister. On WED, she'll be my guest, as we delve in the PHYLOsphere and I get to beat up the "Secret" BS again! Click the pics to preview.

TUES, JAN 19th 1pm ET

WED, JAN 20th, 9pm ET

Get your toe in the river Soma by listening back to last week's TSM Tutorial on the EXO profile. We were a little subdued, which is actually appropriately EXO-ish, with the new of the the Haiti earthquake freshly flickering on the TV. I was joined by a surprise guest, a new Twitter friend, Gabriella Filippi, (yeah, I said the same thing!) who offered her take from just outside Chicago on what's happened to Obama's image over the last year and how she'd advise him using her insights.

Markaphor Dujour

I confess my command of the English language can stand some improvement. As you travel with me through the wilds of Soma Space, my self-created lingo will inevitably surface in our conversations. Below I've offered one the more common phrases I may utter this time of year from what can be called my filosophy...

Swollen Colon  - Ah, welcome to my world! Each session, I'll make a special point to poke along the outside of your legs. What I'm trying to elicit is a 'jump sign', which tells me a spinal reflex arc is activated in the area of the large intestine's neurolymphatic drainage. Both your hamstrings and your low back muscle that bends you to one side (called the quadratus lumborum), as well as the tensor fascia lata (the band of tissue along the side of your upper legs) all contribute to the monitoring of your colon. A key body marker for the tone of the large intestine is reflected in the lower lip of your mouth. People with no symptoms of a cold, fever, or other inflammatory process, will display a characteristic chapped appearance that maps to activity in the colon. Correlated with the 'jump sign', this demonstrates some self care for the colon is in order. I'll usually tailor a dietary recommendation of pectins (from apples, jellies/jams, raisins & strawberries), fiber (from oatmeal & citrus fruit like pineapple) and/or sea salts (from dulse, kelp or wacume) to handle the chemical stress.
